Direct Rail Services launch a new inter modal service.

Direct Rail Services Limited (DRS) is pleased to announce the launch of its latest inter modal service, working in partnership with Eddie Stobart, the haulage and distribution organisation and one of the world’s leading international retailers Tesco PLC. The contract is to transport goods on behalf of Tesco between Grangemouth and Daventry running five days a week by rail utilising DRS’ new low emission environmentally friendly Class 66 locomotive carrying Eddie Stobart’s livery.

DRS is an established rail freight company who has achieved an unrivalled levels of performance in terms of reliable and timely service deliveries. Today the company has gained recognition of excellence in the rail freight industry.



This partnership will form an integrated transport solution which supports UK government targets of reducing lorry movements on the road, lowering harmful emissions and dramatically reducing fuel consumption. This project is estimated to save around 6000 tonnes of CO2 a year. DRS Managing Director Neil McNicholas adds that he is ‘delighted with this new partnership’ and DRS Commercial Director also adds “this is a major success for DRS who are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership”
