Portfolio

Scottish, Northern, Midlands and Southern operational bases enable DRS to provide a nation-wide service to its customers.

DRS has an expanding portfolio of routes across the network, with an engineering support structure in place to guarantee reliability.

Continuous route and traction training programmes ensure flexibility in responding to customer demands for development of existing flows and introducing new traffic onto the rails

Specialist Transport

DRS’ expertise in the nuclear industry has lead to the company becoming the first choice to provide specialist transport solutions.

Operating to the exacting standards of the rail and nuclear industry –one of the world’s most heavily regulated industries – has given DRS an unequalled pedigree. Used nuclear fuel has been transported in this country since 1962. During that time more than 7 million miles have been travelled without an incident involving the release of radioactivity.

This extremely safe, secure and reliable service is available to industries with a requirement for specialist transports and a need for an unrivalled level of reliability.

General Freight

The demand for this area of the business has expanded rapidly since the introduction of several high-speed long distance services.

The reliability and cost effectiveness of these services has lead to a number of premium logistics providers contracting with DRS to transport fast moving consumer goods, high value products and time sensitive cargoes.

DRS has strengthened its fleet by adding 10 Class 66 locomotives – adding a further degree of flexibility, efficiency and performance demanded by this sector of the industry.

Our customers have stated that this transport solution consistently out performs road – providing a faster service, greater capacity, increased reliability and on time deliveries for retail end users.

This integrated transport solution is in line with UK government legislation – removing lorry movements from the road, lowering harmful emissions and dramatically reducing fuel consumption.

The rail freight industry has reacted to customer demand and has developed into a genuinely competitive area
