DRS Sponsor Women in Rail Launch Event
DRS sponsored the launch event for the North West Region Women in Rail event in July.
The ‘Ginspirational’ event which was held in Manchester July 25th, was sponsored by Direct Rail Services. Over 30 attendees heard from three inspirational speakers: Claire Douglas, Driver, Direct Rail Services, Claire Beranek, Route Asset Manager (Signalling), Network Rail and Jane Simpson, Head of Asset Creation, Non Infrastructure Severn Trent Water. Liam Sumpter, Regional Director from Northern closed the event highlighting the importance of diversity in the rail industry. The event was followed by a social gin tasting session which was very much enjoyed by all!
Debbie Francis, Chair of Women in Rail North West Region said ‘The event was a huge success and the committee very much look forward to being able to provide networking opportunities again in the near future’.
Women in Rail was created to improve diversity in the UK rail industry through providing networking opportunities and support for all women within the sector, encourage undertakings and stakeholders to adopt diversity as a business strategy and devising initiatives aimed at positioning rail as an attractive career choice for young people.
The membership of Women in Rail currently includes representatives from a wide range of undertakings and stakeholders across the UK rail industry.
