Empty Freight Train Incident

15th January 2014

At approximately 19:00 hours on 14th January 2014, a DRS locomotive came into contact with an empty car that was stationary on a level crossing at Silverdale in the Carnforth area. There were no injuries as a result of the collision and the locomotive, which was transporting an empty wagon, sustained only minor damage. The service was checked and cleared to depart the site and continue its journey at 23:40 hours and the line was fully cleared by 00:50 hours.
